FIABCI Italy for Ricci S.p.A.

The collaboration with the #GREEN research centre of the Bocconi University of Milan continues, with which since 2018 we have been carrying out a monitoring project of indicator 12 of the international SDG’s on our #building sites in Milan.

We thank #FIABCI ITALIA for sharing the initiative on its channels.

Bocconi University – through the GREEN research centre and its Green Economy Observatory (GEO), has been addressing the issue of circular economy in the construction sector for some time. In 2018, a survey on the approaches to the circular economy in construction was conducted within GEO, through the administration of a questionnaire to all companies belonging to the “Giovani Imprenditori” group of Assimpredil ANCE. In order to deepen the operational aspects, the survey also envisaged analysing the reality and experience of a company that is a member of the Giovani group – the Ricci S.p.A. company, testing the check-up tool developed by GEO to assess circularity in companies in different sectors.

In 2018, therefore, the partnership between Ricci S.p.A. and the GREEN research centre was also born, in order to give concreteness to the sensitivity on the issues of sustainability and circular economy already present within the company. Ricci S.p.A. has been active for over 30 years in the construction sector, and intends to take on new challenges and develop its potential in terms of sustainability and circularity in the building industry.

The application of the check-up tool for circularity on the Ricci company was accompanied by a series of interviews carried out by GREEN researchers with the various company functions, with the aim of analysing the company’s degree of response in terms of sustainability and the respective margins for improvement.

Following the company analysis on the internal sustainability performance achieved, Ricci wanted to test this process in its own pilot site: the complete renovation of a twelve-storey building for office use located in Viale Fulvio Testi, Milan on behalf of Kryalos SGR S.p.A.

In 2020, with the suggestion of the GREEN centre, it was decided to start monitoring some indicators related to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 12, “Responsible production and consumption” of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted in 2015 by the United Nations.
